A scheme for gas– solid heat transfer during vertical pneumatic conveying, with hot gas supply before the solid feeder and at
three other points after solid feeder in the duct, has been simulated using a one-dimensional, two-fluid model. Two gas to solid
mass flow ratios and a number of ratios of gas distributions between the four gas inlets have been simulated. The results show that
increasing number of gas inlets and maintaining a lower gas to solid flow ratios possible before the final gas inlet will lead to higher
heat recovery. Further scope for such simulation studies including optimization of gas inlet locations has been highlighted.
