prepared various activated carbons from
anthracites by chemical activation with NaOH and
found that an increase of the carbonization
temperature increased the surface areas of the
activated carbons. The trend for the surface areas of
the activated carbons in relation to the concentration
of the chemical agent and carbonization
temperature was different from previous reported
studies (Wu and Tseng 2008, Perrin et al. 2004).
This can be due to the differences in raw material
and process conditions. It is well known that the
structure and surface chemistry changes of the
activated carbons depend on not only the precursor
but also the process conditions.
