However, the research on the network arena does not pay attention to
only the embedded tie as a main source of network development. In
reality, variety of information and scopes of information can be
expanded in the extended network (Granovetter et al, 1982). The
extended network bases on an arm’s-length tie, mutual benefits and
the dimensions of strength of weak ties. From this discussion, it is
found further that the recent researches on networking identifies
arm’s length tie and extended network as source of knowledge
transferring & sharing and learning organization & learning outcome
in the network. For example, March, (1991), Ahuja (2002a); Politis
(2005) study the explorative learning outcome (new innovation) of
interfirm network bases on extended network rather than dense
network.
Arm’s length ties and embedded ties cannot be separated in the
network. However, none of research studies about the degree of the
balance between these two types of ties. This is because the formation
of different style of network bases on different environment.
