Fig. 2 shows the influence of HMDTMP on the cathodic and anodic potentiodynamic polarization curves of carbon steel in 0.5 M HCl. Electrochemical corrosion parameters such as cor- rosion potential Ecorr, cathodic Tafel slops bc and corrosion current density icorr, obtained by Tafel extrapolation of the cathodic curves to the open circuit corrosion potentials, are collected in Table 2. The inhibition efficiency is calculated by the following expression:
