First, students were given an orientation on how to use YackPack in the last 15 minutes of class time in the second week of the semester. Students were then asked to record their speaking on YackPack for durations of between 1 and 2 minutes each week, and send sound files to the instructor for analysis. The instructor would listen to students’ speaking, and transcribe what was being said. The instructor then looked at word count, rate of speech, lexical errors, lexical density, lexical complexity, other miscellaneous factors, as well as CSs being applied.
