The project “Improving the Cutting Process of the Border Laser Machine” aims to find the cutting parameters of the Border Laser Machine. For cutting workpieces with a thickness of 2 millimeters, the loss will increase by 20% by using a fishbone diagram to analyze the cause of the problem. Leads to the study of data for use in experimental design. Start by studying the variables that affect cutting. Selecting the factors to be tested Determining the conditions used in the experiment Conducting the experiment and recording the results of the first experiment, it was found that the best values for all 3 variables were cutting speed equal to 5 meters/second, maximum power equal to 80%, and cutting pressure equal to 6 bars when taking the values Variables are used to cut the actual work piece. Comparing the results from the original variable and the new variable, it was found that the workpiece cut with the new variable had a smoother cut surface on all 4 sides. But on the contrary, the fraction is larger than before. Leading to a second experiment to reduce scraps from cutting to be less than the workpiece cut with the original variable. By using a cutting speed equal to 5 meters/second and using the analysis of data obtained from Experiment 1 to determine the conditions in Experiment 2 when the best variable from Experiment 2 was obtained, namely cutting speed. is equal to 5 meters/second, the maximum power is equal to 80% and the cutting pressure is equal to 7 bars. When the workpiece obtained from cutting with the parameters of the second experiment is compared with the workpiece from the original parameters, it is found that the workpiece From the parameters from the second experiment, the surface was smoother. and there are fewer scraps than before Therefore, the values obtained from the second experiment were used to cut 100 real workpieces to find the percentage of cuts to compare before and after improvement. It was found that the percentage of cuts was 97%, an increase from the original 32.2%, which achieved the objective.
