Accept Feelings and Redirect Angry Actions
Accept and acknowledge your child’s angry feelings and direct them towards an appropriate outlet for expressing their emotions.
When feelings are accepted, your child will feel more understood and more calm.
When feelings are expressed, the build of emotion avoided and so explosions become less likely.
At Kidi Kingdom we use “I” statements to acknowledge feelings, i.e. “I can see when that person took your toy it made you feel angry, I understand, “If someone took MY toy, I would feel angry too”...Maybe we could share the toy!”
