The National Palliative CareStrategy states that the scope of palliative care includes pri-mary care providers in a variety of settings and should beavailable in both generalist and specialist care [19], whilstthe NSW Palliative Care Strategic Framework states that:“palliative care has to be recognised as core business for healthservices” [20]. Whilst the provision of chronic disease careby a wide variety of health professionals is supported bya range of action plans, educational opportunities, fundingand infrastructure, there is no evidence that such processeshave been developed for the provision of end of life care.Table 4 summarises national, state and territory poli-
