Findings - The claim arises following the breakdown of 'Trane' brand chiller no. 2, which serves the air-conditioning system at the premises. The incident occurred on 22 February 2015 and was attributed to an electrical under-voltage and imbalance in the incoming electricity supply. The supplier use a multi meter to take measurements at each coupling of the coils and test for short-circuit of the grounding. The results showed that electrical resistance of the induction coils failed the testing and that the motor coil had suffered a short-circuit.
It was also discovered that the magnetic contactor had melted at the contact surfaces due to overheating. We conclude that the chiller motor and its magnetic contactor required replacement due to the damage observed.
