The results of our study show that wild rose wines are a rich
source of antioxidants. Both, wines from Rosa rugosa Thunb. and
Rosa canina L. contain high levels of polyphenols and L-ascorbic
acid. According to Regulation (EU) no. 1160/2011 the recommended
daily dosage of vitamin C for the adult male is 80 mg:
70 mL of wine from Rosa rugosa Thunb. or 140 mL of wine from
Rosa canina L. would provide this level of vitamin C. However, due
to its ethanol content, wild rose wine should not be treated as the
sole source of this vitamin.
