This species is assessed as Least Concern because although it has a restricted range, at present there are no threats and it lies within a protected area which restricts the potentially damaging activities such as water pollution and deforestation. Conservation actions include the implementation of catchment management plans which include the species. Although the species is only known from a short stretch of river the lack of current threats means it does not qualify as a threatened species; should any threat change the water quality of the river it would immediately qualify for a threatened category.
