Some companies outsource parts of their customer relationship management opera¬tion to independent call centers. A call center is a company that handles incoming cus¬tomer telephone calls and e-mails for other companies. Using a call center often makes sense for smaller com panics that do not have the volume of customer inquiries to justify cre¬ating an internal call center operation. Some call centers work with a variety of businesses: others focus on one specialty area. For example, a specialized call center might con¬tract with software manufacturers to provide installation help for their software products. Call center employees who are skilled in helping customers install one software package are often able to learn how to support other software packages very quickly.
