Boun Bang Fai (Rocket Festival) is an annual tradition of Laos held according to the sixth lunar calendar which falls on the month of May. This festival has been occuring decades from now and has been believed to be helpful in terms of agricultural aspects. This festival has a so-called strategy which is the rain-fabrication for the fertility of the field for a good harvest, free from insects and pesticides. This has also in relation of asking help for the God of Rain. These man-made rockets are made up of decorated bamboo and gunpowder. Meanwhile, due to advent of technology, rockets are being made by glass, metals and different sorts of lighting effects though some people preferred using the traditional and timely useful bamboo. The festival is celebrated all throughout the villages of Natham, Nason, Kern and all neighboring regions of Laos.
