The Soil Moisture Sensor Module reads the amount of moisture present in the soil surrounding it. It's a low tech sensor, but ideal for monitoring an urban garden, or your pet plant's water level. This is a must have tool for a robotic gardener. This sensor uses the two probes to pass current through the soil then reads the resistance to determine the moisture level. Since water conducts electricity, the higher the water content, the easier it for the electrons to move. Similarly since rocks and dirt do not conduct electricity, the driver the soil the more resistance the electrons face. The varying resistance is translated to an analog output suitable for your robot's microcontroller.
Usage:
Connect the (VCC) and (GND) pins to a 5V power supply and the analog output (S) pin to an analog input on your robot's controller.
This soil moisture sensor uses Immersion Gold to protect it from oxidation.
Includes one Soil Moisture Sensor Module and a DFRobot analog cable.
