Bulk Capacitor: A storage capacitor often recommended
for use on the input of a distributed
power system.
Burn-In: To stabilize power supply operation and
eliminate infant mortality, newly manufactured
power supplies are often operated for a period of
time prior to shipment. This “aging” of the unit is
tightly controlled, including the time period, temperature
and any special conditions (input power
cycling, load switching, etc.).
Bus: The primary conductor path (wires, cables,
etc.) used for routing power to various components
within a (sub)system.
