The presence of a fragment ion at m/z
729 was also indicative that galloylation of peak 36 took place at
the upper or at the second, but not at the terminal unit. Santos-
Buelga et al. (1995) have found that galloylation of procyanidin
trimers always occurs at the EC units at second or terminal position
(but not at upper position), thus leading to the conclusion that the
galloyl ester of the procyanidin trimer corresponding to peak 36
was most probably at the second unit [(E)C-ECG-(E)C].
