While linseed cultivars are rather grown in continental climate
regions, fiber flax cultivars are preferably grown in cool, moist
climate condition. Cultivation region of the world, water stress,
high temperature and disease occurrence affect growth parameters.
For example, flax seedlings can withstand a temperature of
−4 ◦C, but very high temperatures (exceeding 32 ◦C) could shorten
stem length and flowering period, thereby affecting fiber or seed
yield.
