10.25 a.m. - In the warehouse of Luxair's CargoCenter, Network Support
Manager Hisashi Kibe oversees the offloading of a very special cargo
from Hamburg, bound for Komatsu, Japan. It is a Canon semiconductor
shipment that will be loaded onto flight CV 7962, scheduled to
depart at 1.45 p.m. Cargolux received instructions from the customer
that this very fragile piece of machinery must be maintained at a constant
temperature of 23 ºC to ensure that its components do not deteriorate.
This commodity is extremely delicate and the crates are equipped
with shock and tilt indicators that must not be activated throughout
the entire transportation chain. A tailor-made procedure, called
standard operation procedure (SOP) is designed to support such special
handling.
For specific cases like these, the MNS team of Hisashi Kibe, Stephane
Raemdonck and Franco Nanna establishes and coordinates SOPs with
all parties. They ensure that the service requirements of clients are well
known and understood by the Cargolux staff and suppliers. When
requests are made for unusually fragile shipments or when particular
difficulties are discovered in the cargo flow, they come into play to
determine the best means of handling the situation and follow up until
shipments are completed or glitches are resolved.
