Nonprofit organizations that work directly with communities or support community-based organizations are driven by people with a commitment to mission, whether it be housing, community development, the well-being of children and families, or a host of other important purposes. If organizational development work is to be valued by these people and organizations, it will be because it connects directly to their passions, particularly the achievement of their
missions to make a positive difference in their communities. Organizations that have participated in the Mary Reynolds Babcock Foundation’s (MRBF) OD Program have become convinced, or further convinced, of the direct connection between a commitment to ongoing organizational development work and achievement of the purpose for which they were established. They have experienced this connection on a variety of levels.
