U.S. exports of U.S. agricultural products to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC-6) members (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates or UAE, and Saudi Arabia) rose 8% to over US$3 billion in 2014. Also with another new record high, U.S. exports of consumer food products rose 7% in 2014 and totaled over US$1.8 billion, which is 61% of the agricultural total. Top U.S. processed food exports to the region in 2014 included vegetable oils (ex. soybean); other processed foods; ingredients and beverage bases; cheese; table condiments; baked snack foods; butter; chocolate; French fries; ice cream; and baking inputs, mixes and dough. Saudi Arabia passed the UAE in value share in 2014 with 44.5% of the region’s total and the UAE now accounts for 40.5% making them the largest markets for U.S. food products.
