observed signs of wood extraction in the upper portion of the investigated estuaries, near small urban zones. Therefore, is possible that such stressor might facilitate L. racemosa to dominate the upper estuarine regions. Additionally, Acrostichum spp, the “mangrove fern”, which is recognized as opportunistic in disturbed estuarine areas (Tomlinson, 1986) were also observed at the upper Jaguaripe estuary, deserving attention in future studies.
