Speech passages were recorded at
varying speeds (200 to 350 wpm) of the same
content. Presentation patterns refer to variations
of sequencing the passages at different speeds.
One condition progressively increased the rate
from the slowest presentation to the fastest, the
second decreased from the fastest to the slowest,
and the third condition kept the speeds constant
at approximately 263 wpm. At the end of four
trials, there were significant main effects on
speech speed, but the interaction effect between
presentation pattern and speech speed was
insignificant.
