As a profession, nursing has embraced and rigorously
defended a "profound reverence for human beings
and their experience" (Munhall, 1988, p. 150).
Naturalistic inquiry, with its human tools of instrument
and the involvement of respondents in data generation
and phenomenon explication is an interactive
human endeavor. Unlike quantitative research methodology
there is little distancing between researcher
and subject creating a greater imperative for ethical
regard.
