Silicone and acrylic based polymost widely used as dielectric elastomer in actuator configurations due to their excellent in actuator configueations due to their excellent elastic and electro-active properties. A comparison of a variety of parameters for the best acrylics and silicones is summarized by Kornbluh. While acrylic based elastomers have shown good performance as actuator materials by silicones reveal fast responses broad temperature stability and are in general less viscous. These advantages encourage the development of new silicon based elastomere for EAP actuators.
