4. Discussion
In this study, several Trametes strains exhibited significant difference in MG decolorization (Table 1). The results of ABTS oxidization assays correlated with MG decolorization for most strains but not for strains S0284, S0291, S0313 and S0437 (Table 1), which contrasts with studies showing that other enzymes besides laccase are involved in dye decolorization (Jadhav and Govindwar, 2006; Grassi et al., 2011). T. trogii Berk S0301 exhibited a close correlation between ABTS oxidization and MG decolorization( Table 1), and no MnP activity was detected in the liquid culture, which may reveal that laccase is the dominant decolorization enzyme in this strain under the tested conditions.
