Endophytic bacteria inhabit different plant tissues and gener-ally do not cause pathogenicity to their host (Ryan et al., 2008). They are ubiquitous as they can be found in all plant species, resid-ing in a latent state or actively colonizing plant tissues. A wide range of these bacteria can confer beneficial effects to their host plant by mechanisms similar to those used by rhizosphere bacteria. Moreover, many endophytic bacteria, particularly those inhabiting plants growing in a polluted environment, produce degradation enzymes and contribute to the degradation of several types of organic compounds present in the rhizosphere and endosphere
