Good instructional objectives tell what the student is expected to know or be able to do at the
end of the lesson or unit of study. Each statement should begin with the phrase "the student will
be able to" or have this phrase implied. Example 1 below is student centered, while Example 2 is
teacher centered and would not be acceptable.
1. The student will use correct punctuation in writing a paragraph.
2. I will teach students when to use commas.
