Before adopting a Brahman and Buddhist doctrine into its own culture, the Southeast Asian nationalities already have beliefs on spirituality and Animism before. Beliefs and rituals about ghosts vary according to tribes on how rituals, ceremonies, worships and sacrifice will be performed After the lndians had publicized the Brahman doctrine and the Buddhist had been disseminated in this region, the beliefs on ghosts and new rituals, therefore, influence and play a role in any rituals and the practices of these two religions. Buddhists pay the highest respect for the Buddha while also worshiping ghosts Angels. Later, the emergence of Islam and Christianity makes some group of people to pay respect and combine religious practices of these two new coming religions Christians in Vietnam set up the attar of spirits together with the altar cross. Muslims in Java and Bali still has the altar and the statue of the Hindu God set up together. Some brought the worship of demons into their Muslim practices.
One of vivid examples is Buffalo sacrifice traditionally Performed by the tribes living on the Annam Highland in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, it is one of their most important rituals.
