CONSOLE MECHANICAL DESIGN
Heretofore not much has been said about the me- chanical design features of the console. A great deal of design effort is being applied to the human engineer- ing aspects of the console since it is imperative that the user's initial contact with the console, the only part of the Intrex Catalog System which the average user sees, be a pleasant one.9,1o The objectives here are to retain sufficient flexibility in the initial console to permit effective user evaluation of various features and options while at the same time to maintain a finish look to the console.
The display console takes the form of a two-pedestal desk. One pedestal houses the console electronics and the second pedestal is free for storage of user's ma- terials. Figure 3 is an artist's sketch of the console.
