Conclusion
There is growing reconition, from both a policy and moral stance as to the benefits of HNAs. Yet, they have not been adopted widely in the UK. Therefore, greater understanding is required of the challenges associated with its implementation. There are question that emerge from this article, such as how HNAs should be applied, by whom and what skills are needed for their delivery. Understanding more about these issues may help to alleviate any anxiety associated with its use. Constructing a culture of person-centred care is challenging. It requires education and the confidence to adapt to new ways of providing care (Pelzang,2010). For that reason, a supportive, collaborative environment is necessary. Accordingly, wider use of HNAs and care planning will allow the evidence base to develop in the most valuable way for patients with cancer.
