Diversity reception is usually regarded as a means of
combating fading in radio transmissions. In space diversity,
for instance, several antennas are used, separated in space, to
process the various received signals. The basic idea behind this
concept is that the received signals on different antennas are
statistially independent and therefore there is a good chance
that they will not all fade at the same time. While other
methods of achieving diversity are known [l]here we shall
deal only with space diversity.
