No health and safety systems will operate without the resources to meet the goals. For example, training can
be time consuming and expensive. If your organisation does not have the funds available to ensure that
training takes place, then injuries will occur. In this case another viable alternative should be considered.
Mentors and coaches with the required skills, knowledge and experience working already within the
organisation will ensure that the expected outcomes are reached and maintained.
When determining the resource needs of the organisation, it is important to ensure that you not only operate
within the budget, you should also ensure that you understand the resources available to you.
Human resources can include the costs of:
Contracting personnel as opposed to hiring a full time employee to maintain WHS
Of investigating incidents
Of non compliance and the resultant impact they would have on the organisation
Required risk and WHS personnel
Financial resources can include:
Allocated budget (whether one budget for all or a separate budget for each department)
Cleaning
