This is confusing, because we would rather have ONE DEFINITION, not several. But unfortunately the science of risk is still young, and so even experts do not always agree about "what risk is" and different experts on risk will use slightly different meanings. So I think it is important that you understand this and try not to let it confuse you! You can still learn a lot, even if different authors use different meanings. They are all relate in some way.
