A broader distribution of particles may be due to coalescence of newly formed droplets. In order to evaluate the effect of pressure on particle droplet, the mean particle size (d50) was used as an indicator for the maximum droplet size. Fig. 4a shows the mean particle size as function of homogenization pressure for formulation 1. In general, the mean particle size decreases with increasing pressure (103e160 MPa) reaching minimum values of 1.8e2 and 0.06e0.12 mmfor samples with and without stabilizer, respectively.
