Dear Young Writers:
If you are curious to know about the final, here's the detail.
1. There will be 5 parts that requires written answers (--no multiple choice!!).
- Part One is all about form filling. This is quite easy since you don't have to read a lot to get full points; you will fill in the blanks using what you already know---all about yourself. 8 points
- Part Two: a business letter. You will fill in the spaces provided (pretty much the same as the midterm test). There are some questions about the content of the letter and your understanding about phrases (verb phrase, noun phrase and so on). 8 points
- Part Three is about cards. You will answer 2 questions about a card and write one. 6 points
- Part Four: sentence structure. You will rearrange words and phrases to make complete sentences. 4 points
- Part Five: questions about the activities we did in class. 4 points
2. I have read some of your mini research and found that some of you didn't really understand how sentences are written. I was sad to see that some of the sentences you wrote started with "Have." You should know that the only way a sentence starts with "Have" is a question. Remember to use "there is" with a non count or singular count noun and "there are" with a plural count noun.
3. While you are taking the test don't waste your time asking or glancing at your peers' work. It is better to try to get all the answers yourself.
4. Bring all the pencil or pen, eraser and correction liquid you may need so that you are not "a beggar" the test room. (Some proctors don't allow test-takers to borrow anything from anyone. Borrowing things in the test room is disturbing and it makes you a disgusting person.
