ฺBrazil’s booming beauty industry has attracted global players like Sephora, owned by LVMH, the world’s leading luxury products group. Sephora opened its first store in Brazil last year, and while the company won’t share numbers, it was the most successful store opening in its history, according to Paula Larroque, senior vice president for Latin America. “Brazilians are truly beauty junkies,” she said. “We really see limitless potential.”
In spite of the fact that it represents less than 3% of the world’s population, Brazil makes up 12% of deodorant consumption with the highest use in the world, with its citizens also spending more money on perfume than any other nation. Brazilians’ per capita spending on beauty and personal care products is around $260 a year.
