“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street. Fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” This famous quote was said by one of the most influential female fashion designers of the twentieth century, Coco Chanel. I chose this quote because I feel like it accurately illustrates how I feel about my own personal style and the style I see in others. Fashion, or even personal style to me isn’t about wearing what you see when you scroll through the women’s fashion section of Pinterest. It isn’t about going out each day dressed like you’re headed to the Metropolitan Opera. It isn’t about wearing what just walked off the cat-walk. It isn’t about these things if, and only if, it doesn’t represent you and what you are comfortable in. If you can afford what just walked off the cat-walk (and if you are able to afford that as a college student, I am incredibly envious of you) and you feel comfortable wearing those clothes, then by all means that is wonderful, that is you and that is your style and no one can take that away from you. However, if being comfortable to you means wearing a nice pair of leggings, a pair of cute boots, and a cute shirt, there isn’t anything wrong with that either. That is your style and it is a tangible representation of you.
