However, worldwide, micronutrient deficiencies, particularly
involving iron, zinc, folic acid, vitamin B12, and vitamin A, among
others, remain major problems in many regions [5]. In developing
countries, children represent a vulnerable population who
may have multiple micronutrient deficiencies, especially
preschool children, because of the same causative factors that are
responsible for the insufficiency of more than one essential
micronutrient.
