The CLT sets the vision and values at the corporate level during strategic planning (step 2; 2.1a[1]). The vision, values, and mission were established in TL’s early years, and annually during strategic planning, the CLT ensures that the vision and values are current; clearly state what the system aims to accomplish; and lead the system toward what it wants to do, be, and have. With the acquisition of the Bellburn Care Group in 2008, TL instituted the evaluation of the APEX values, vision, and mission for alignment with those of any acquired organization. Even if there is already a good fit, the evaluation honors the acquired organization and its history, and helps to make the merger or acquisition a success. In 2009, the TL added the phrase “homelike environment” (from the Bellburn Care Group’s mission) to its own mission.
