Some species are widely distributed throughout the distinct vegetation formations
of the Rio Grande do Norte State and were found in environments from Caatinga to more humid forest formations. Among the widely distributed species, there are C. aggregatus(Willd.) Endl., C. compressus L., C. odoratusL. and C. surinamensis Rottb. Despite the scant documentation in herbaria, C. rotundus L. is also widely distributed in Rio Grande do Norte, but always in association with human activities.
