Carbon nanotube bundles can be solubilized in an
aqueous solution by coating with the hydrophobin EAS. Carbon
nanotubes are very hydrophobic and tend to aggregate into bundles
in aqueous solution. However, they can be solubilized and form a
homogeneous suspension when sonicated in a solution of EAS.
Sonication aids the separation of the carbon nanotube bundles, and
this allows EAS to assemble on the surface of the carbon nanotubes.
