Team-oriented
Experiences in their early years are more likely to predispose this generation to team activities
when compared to other generations, examples include organized sports, opportunities for
volunteerism, experiencing formal childcare, a focus on group work as a pedagogical strategy
in schools and the like contribute to this character trait. Many schooling practices reinforce
the value of teams and collaborative practices, impacting particularly during the formative
years to consolidate this generational trait. That is not to say that members of Generation
Y are effective team members – they still require skill development in this field.
