Word Count: 521
Summary: Oreki and Chitanda visit Mayaka’s doujin booth at Comiket and Chitanda gets distracted by all of the cosplayers.
Chitanda pulled Oreki along through the crowds. It was amazing really, the site of so many people gathering together over a common interest. She was also horribly excited and anxious to see Mayaka with a booth set up here, at Comiket! To think that her dear friend from high school finally had her dream come true and was now a part of a very famous doujin circle. When Chitanda first heard this, she remembered tears prickling her eyes, she had been that happy for friend.
And now she was navigating her way through the cosplay square, her hurrying feet trying to negate the dead weight of Oreki’s dragging ones. Even though the convention lasted for three days, they only time in their schedule to make it today. So, Chitanda was determined to see everything she wanted to in the small amount of time that they had.
Of course, at the moment she felt like she had back in high school. During every culture festival her sense of curiosity went into hyper drive and she somehow always ended up getting sucked into everything that she passed by. The brightly colored wigs and the elaborate costumes –all professionally made- were doing that exact same thing. And with a camera hanging around her neck, she was tempted to stop often to take pictures and ask who the people were cosplaying as.
As the time passed by she became more and more aware of the fact that Oreki was getting impatient, and rightfully so, since they still had not even left the Cosplay Square to check out the rest of the convention. But, she also knew that her self control was sorely lacking and so she just softly said his name.
“Oreki.”
And he knew what to do. Taking her hand in his tightly, he started walking. He took control of where they were heading and by-passed any and every cosplay, especially when the words “I’m curious” slipped past her lips. It was at times like this that he kept her grounded. Yet, it still made her feel a bit sad. She would have liked to have learned some more about cosplay. It looked fun.
When they were finally inside the convention center and they had stopped for a brief moment, Chitanda let the sadness show on her face slightly. She knew that they had to see Mayaka and that they did not have all that much time, especially since they had a long trip back home, but…
Her curiosity; she wanted to quench it. Oreki took note of her change in mood and leaned downward, bringing his lips close to her ears, “If you want – I’ll let you dress me up in a cosplay one day. Only once though.”
The affect was instant. Chitanda felt her sadness get shattered to pieces as a thrill rushed through her body. Instantly her mind thought of a million different possibilities. Oreki was going to allow her to dress him up in a cosplay!
She thanked him through a trail of giggles and followed him as they headed off towards Mayaka’s booth.
