The biodegradable films generated from blends of starch,
poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate), glycerol and potassium
sorbate had mechanical properties and a water vapour permeability
suitable for active packaging of fresh pasta. The biodegradable
films increased the product shelf-life, and the amount of
potassium sorbate that migrated to the product was lower than
the maximum concentration allowed by the Brazilian legislation
for fresh pasta.
