The secondary causes of lumbago in the younger population has always been a medical concern, as it is considered a “red flag” when back pain affects this age group. However, nonspecific low back pain is still the main cause among this
population.
Previous studies have detected what are considered to be risk factors potentially leading to the development of nonspecific back pain among children and teenagers. Among these are biomechanical alterations to the spine caused by mechanical overburdening (heavy school bags, for example), incorrect posture and ergonomic characteristics of school chairs and
desks.
