With increasing feeding frequency, the overall feeding rate increased to 65 gcal/g live weight per day in the group fed twice a day. Growth rate was the highest (8.7 gcal/g per day) in the groups fed twice and once in a day, moderate (3.4 gcal/g per day) in that fed once in 2 days and zero or negative in that fed once in 3 days, and in other groups the individuals had negative growth. Growth efficiency was highest (17%) in the group fed twice a day, which surfaced more frequently than the remaining groups. From the points of both feeding and conversion efficiency, feeding once a day in cultures of juvenile H. fossilis is recommended.
