A seriesofgarnet-typeLu2.97Al5xScxO12:0.03Ce3þ (x¼0, 0.3,0.5,0.7and1)phosphorshavebeensynthesizedbyhightemperaturesolid-
state reaction.Phasestructure,photoluminescence(PL)andthermalquenchingpropertiesdependenceonAl3þ/Sc3þ ratio ofthe
Lu2.97(Al,Sc)5O12:0.03Ce3þ phosphors havebeeninvestigated.Allthephosphorsexhibitstrongbroadabsorptionbandsintherangeof300
and 500nm,withagreenemissionpeakatabout511nmunderthebluelightexcitationof445nm.Slightblue-shifttendencyofemissionbands
was observedafterthesubstitutionofAl3þ by Sc3þ. ThermalstablePLpropertiesviaAl3þ/Sc3þ substitution intheLu3Al5O12:Ce3þ phosphor
have beenalsostudied.
