Rungrawee Chalermsripinyorat — an expert on the southern insurgency at the Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs, Australian National University — told Anadolu Agency by email Monday that opinion differed within the BRN on whether or not it would take part.
“The BRN’s leadership insists that it would only do so after its required preconditions are met,” she said. “Those who think otherwise have joined Mara Patani.”
Chalermsripinyorat also said that there was not a complete separation between the BRN hardliners and the pro-dialogue faction.
“The BRN representatives in Mara Patani and those in the information department certainly know one another and they all belong to the BRN,” she said.
