academic and/or professional credentials; (2) a recruiting
process led by the program coordinator and faculty; (3) an
orientation program for new faculty, with additional mentoring
by senior faculty; (4) privately-funded summer research
support; (5) instructional improvement funding for the purchase
of books, periodicals, and other materials to enhance
instructional performance; (6) an extended learning program
that offers training in areas such as online instruction skills;
(7) special topics training for all faculty and staff; (8) support
for attendance at academic conferences and seminars; and
(9) an evaluation process that provides incentives for strong
teaching performance.
