Much has been written about South Africa’s successes, but there is little about Nigeria where, in 2003 and 2007, power was passed on peacefully and, albeit with difficulty, democratically – a notable achieve - ment considering the country’s history of military intervention. The Nigerian economy was growing at 8 productive land and a lot of oil and other resources. While success is far from assured, Nigeria is tak-ing steps away from the curse of the resource-rich nations discussed in the Introduction.
